A message from Executive Director Abdul-Kaba Abdullah:
In 2018 I visited the Village of Tanyigbe and was hosted by the Chief Togbe Kodi Adiko VI and Queen Mother Dinah Adiko. While there I was extended the greatest hospitality I have ever received . Despite the lack of material things they had to offer, they extended the very best they had and filled me culturally and spiritually beyond measure.
It has been pressed upon my heart to do something for this amazing group of people who have a humanity, dignity, grace, hope and determination that we should strive for with all our advantages here. I believe it stems from the name of the village Tanyigbe which means “Except death, nothing stops us from doing what we have to do”.
I was given the chance to hear about the needs of the village and the people. A clinic is the priority need for the town, but they also need basic things for the youth including pencils and toys. The village has roughly 10,000 people and 55% are youth. I would like to adopt the Village of Tanyigbe for Christmas and provide at least 400 children with Christmas gifts. I want to show my community’s generosity and bless them to have a joyful holiday season.
I would also like to give money to Queen Mother Dinah Adiko and other village mothers to provide a Christmas meal for the village. While there I saw her and the Chief feed many people in their town, and I would like to help them do this again for the holidays.
Please join me in making Project #TanyigbeChristmas a reality. Let’s show our brothers and sisters in Ghana that we love them.
